about me

Hello, I’m Yasi. My pottery journey began in childhood, immersed in the tradition of moon jars used to store rice wines. I hold a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Archaeology, focusing on pre-Hispanic pottery from the Philippine era. My modern pottery experience has included workshops in Dublin, Ireland; Osaka; California; Nairobi; and New Zealand. After moving to New Zealand in 2015, I’ve been finding ways to infuse my heritage into my work, and I’ve finally embraced an aesthetic that harmonizes the old and new worlds. I also established my own studio and taught classes in Christchurch, though I recently sold it due to our move to St. Arnaud.

ceramic classes offered

if you're visiting St Arnaud, adding a pottery class to your itinerary is a unique way to experience the artistic side of Nelson Lakes. It’s an engaging activity that offers both a creative outlet and a meaningful souvenir—you can take home your very own handcrafted piece as a memento of your time here. Pottery is a perfect addition to the many activities St Arnaud and Tasman have to offer, giving you a chance to unwind and create something beautiful amidst the stunning landscape. message me and we can make this happen!
